Here at Bull Bite Grips, we believe you should be able to depend on your tools as much as you depend on your crew.
We’ve reimagined the typical grip design to make our job easier and safer. We added a second rigging eye so you aren’t trying to cram your thumb and the hoist hook into the same loop. We also elongated the handle to make the grip easier to manipulate and use. No more wrestling with grips to get them on, no more trying to fit your thumb in the same hole as the hoist hook, and no more smashing your thumb in the process.
These simple changes make using our wire grips a completely one-handed operation, freeing you up to focus on getting the job done right.
95% of wire grips look pretty much the same. They all do the same job, and they all work. But as any lineman can tell you, you don’t want to be fighting with your tools when you’re working on the pole or rubber gloving.
We’ve got to consistently maintain a solid grasp on the tools we’re using so we can manipulate them with ease—not just for our own comfort, but for the safety of ourselves and our team. Having a grip that’s ergonomic and easy to use can play a huge factor in our ability to do our job efficiently and safely.
What’s different about your design, and why?
We want to make your job as easy—and safe—as possible.
The added rigging eye makes it possible to hold the grip securely while putting the grip on the wire without having to stuff both your thumb and the hoist hook in the same spot. This makes the installation of the grip extremely easy—especially when wearing thick rubber gloves—so you never have to worry about losing control of your grip.
Along with the extra rigging eye, there’s also a longer handle on the bottom, which aids in opening the grip to put it on the wire. This also makes it easier to maintain a good, firm hold on the grip so you can apply it to the wire, pull down guys, and manipulate the grip as needed—without worrying that it might slip off.
I’m not a lineman but I like the look of these grips. Can they be used for other things?
These were originally designed for linemen, but they would absolutely work for similar tasks and for materials other than wire (such as rope).
What are the use and care instructions?
Lubricate the working joints and clean the jaws of the grips regularly with a wire brush to remove any particulates that might have built up from use, especially those from weather coatings on older wires. This helps ensure that nothing interferes with the grip coming in contact with the wire, which can cause slippage.
Our grips have a noncorrosive finish to protect them from the elements, like water or snow. To give your grips a longer life, it’s best to store your Bull Bite Grips out of the elements while not in use.
When will these grips be ready?
We are currently in the production phase, getting our grips safety-tested before sending them to the manufacturer. We expect our grips to be ready in the spring of 2021.
